This article explains what happens when a .uk domain reaches its expiry date, including renewal, suspension and cancellation timelines.
Renewal timeline
After the expiry date, you still have time to renew your .uk domain before it is cancelled.
If no renewal request is received within 30 days of expiry, the domain is suspended. When a domain is suspended, all services linked to it, including your website and email, stop working.
A suspension warning is sent 7 days before suspension. A suspension notice is sent when the domain is suspended, unless you have opted out of these notifications.
Renewal is still possible while the domain is suspended.
If the domain remains suspended for 60 days without renewal, it is scheduled for cancellation.
A final reminder is sent 83 days after expiry, which is 7 days before cancellation.
Once cancelled, the domain becomes immediately available for others to re-register.
